Description
Škoda Transportation produced a 100% low-floor two-way tram for the Hungarian city of Miskolc. The vehicle follows a series of two-way vehicles that were popular with passengers in Cagliari, Italy, Portland, USA, and Wroclaw, Poland. The fully low-floor five-section ForCity Classic meets the latest European safety standard, which guarantees greater safety for passengers and the driver in the event of a collision.
Easily accessible electrical equipment is located on the roof of the vehicle, energy is recovered during braking, which, together with asynchronous traction motors, reduces operating and maintenance costs. The ForCity Classic tram has a wider body than previous types and can offer space for more than 300 passengers. The complete low floor and the boarding edge at a height of 330 mm above the top of the rail enables easy boarding and alighting of passengers. The platforms at the doors offer enough space for bicycles, baby carriages and people with reduced mobility. Air conditioning and a clear information system contribute to passenger comfort.
