Description

In December 2015, the city saw the introduction of its first new vehicle. Gmunden - Vorchdorf of the "Tramlink" type was delivered directly from the manufacturer, Vossloh, based in Valencia, Spain.

On Wednesday, December 2, 2015, around 8:30 p.m., the city's first tram was finally delivered to the train station. The TRL V3 had traveled a considerable distance. From Valencia, it headed to the Atlantic port in Bilbao, then to Rotterdam, and from there along the highway to Vordorf. For several days, this impressive tram drew attention on European roads. The next day, many spectators gathered as the new tram was pulled from the semi-trailer onto the rails—an interesting and uplifting moment for many. The first tram’s arrival creates a positive feeling.

I had already seen it in Valencia, Spain, shortly before its transfer, but now it looks very nice. The entire evening, the brakes were being tested. You could say that it has finally arrived. The mobile future of the region is a historic milestone. The area is part of a year-long project, marking a significant step forward in mobility. Public transport's future focuses on comfort, ease, and flexibility. All age groups saw the new vehicle arrive yesterday; the SP is now implemented for the ST on Franzatz, and the promised traffic reopening in November has been maintained, despite some ongoing work. The new multifunctional stop is unmistakable, similar to the one at Klosterplatz, where STT has a unique philosophy that complements previous designs, featuring trees and the symbol F, representing three trees, which is also a colorful visual play. There will be another tree at the start and end of the stop, symbolizing color and shape, meant to enhance the avenue’s appearance. We deliberately did not want to copy existing designs but to bring our own style. Our focus was on material quality and type, refining these details by reducing the garage entrance size, which allowed for an enlarged parking area nearby. The new paving up to the GRA is meant to visually enhance the entire region, preparing it for the new tram in Munden. This was showcased at the press in the new depot at R 30, which measures 30 meters long, holds 75 seats, and features many multifunctional areas for children and bicycles. Thanks to low-voltage technology and the hall’s structural design, access will be fully barrier-free. This vehicle is unmatched in Europe and tailored to the region’s specific needs. We must operate within certain infrastructure constraints, and trams are not built for railway tracks.

This system handles a 20% gradient. Other vehicles need shorter lengths to manage the incline. The workshop is nearby, emphasizing flexibility. Unlike shops, there are also regional leaders involved. Get a firsthand impression of the new tram. I hope that everyone gets to experience it. I wish this could happen repeatedly. I want people to believe in this progress. I’d love to be there myself. We plan to be present for the first test drive. Please note that the new tram is in operation for the first time. Today, we tested and adjusted the traction system for safety. This will continue next week, along with brake adjustments, system checks, and other components, including the braking system and friction points. The remaining two trams scheduled for delivery in February will be delayed until early March. By then, the vehicles should be ready for passenger operation. Built in Valencia, the entire system engineering, along with critical components like engines, gearboxes, door drive, ventilation, and seat upholstery, is produced in the East.
