Added Milan Museum of Science and Technology - Leonardo da Vinci (2019)The Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology is located in Milan. Opened in 1953, its 50,000 m² of exhibition space make it the largest technical and scientific museum in Italy and one of the largest in Europe. It houses the world's largest collection of machine models based on Leonardo da Vinci's drawings. It is visited by 500,000 people annually. The collections comprise 16,000 historical items and include representative examples of the history of Italian science, technology, and industry from the 19th century to the present day. Its 13 interactive laboratories offer activities based on an informal learning approach. The museum collaborates with leading European and global science museums and has been a member of ECSITE (European Collaborative for Science, Industry, and Technology Exhibitions) since 2003. Since 2000, the museum has been a private foundation. Its founding members are the Ministry of Education, University and Research and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism. Its supporting members are the Lombardy Region, the Municipality of Milan, and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Crafts and Agriculture of Milan. The main Milanese universities are members of its scientific council. The museum is located at Via San Vittore 21 in the ancient monastery of San Vittore al Corpo,[3] next to the church of the same name, near where Leonardo owned some vineyards, at the time just outside the city walls. It is also not far from the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, home to the famous Last Supper, and the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio.
