SL does not operate the services itself, but grants concessions to private companies such as Veolia Transport, Busslink and Swebus. As a result, SL itself only employs 500 people. The development function remains with SL and all vehicles are painted in the SL house style. SL was originally the municipal transport company of Stockholm County.
