Lund tram (2021)The Lund tram has been running since December 13, 2020 as the fourth Swedish tram company on its 5.5 km long route. Line 1 connects the main station with the ESS research center. The new line 1 begins at the railway station, passes the university hospital and runs towards the north-east to the MAX IV and ESS research facilities. In the next few years, the new Brunnshög district will be developed along the route, providing apartments and jobs for up to 40.000 people. In the city center, the construction of the tram was used as an opportunity to redesign the surrounding streets. For the first line, seven cars of the CAF Urbos 3 type were delivered. Trolleys/Trams in Lund, Sweden (2022)Lund's trolley/tramway system opened in December 2020. It was the first new trolley system in Sweden since 1911. It is now one of four Swedish cities with trolleys, alongside Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Norrköping. The current Lund network includes nine stations and 5.5km of double track running from Lund Central Station to ESS - European Spallation Source.
