By (U)OV through Utrecht | #BliviusVlog (2024)Today we will be driving with the (U)OV through the province of Utrecht, we will do this with a Province Dal Card. Enjoy the Vlog. Good morning everyone! Today is Saturday, May 11th, and that means my weekend is back. We have something fun planned because a viewer suggested I visit Utrecht since there are some lovely sights there. I’ll share more about that later, but first, we're taking the train toward Utrecht. Are you coming with us? Arriva is a logistical limitation race. Patrick has arrived at the Dam. You know what we say—the vlog can begin because the coffee is here. We have 11 trays in hand, and with this train, we’re heading to Utrecht. Tomorrow, dear travelers, onon has arrived at Utrecht Central Station. Here behind me, you see Patrick first, plus the UOV shop where we got our Dal subscription and day tickets. I hope everything goes well because I also have an NS subscription on my card, but we’ll find out soon enough. The whole reason we’re here is because a viewer suggested we visit Utrecht, take the UOV, and then hop on trams to Nieuwegein, and similar places. That’s what we're doing now. Well, I’ve checked in here at the province. The first tram we can catch is heading toward IJsselstein, so let's take that. With this tram, we’re going to Duck Donkey Steen via the new Roggenweg. I looked it up, and this tram line has connected Utrecht with IJsselstein and Nieuwegein since 1983. There are three lines: train line 20 from Science Park to Nieuwegein Zuid; line 21 from Science Park to IJsselstein via Nieuwegein; and line 22 from Science Park to Utrecht Central Station. It’s a short line, but it’s been around since 1983. Recently, around 2020, all this was renewed. There were some complaints about the first line, especially from residents near it, because the trams make quite a lot of noise—squeaking and dragging sounds. To fix this, they smeared the tracks with a substance to reduce noise. It seems to be working. By the way, the transmission tower in this picture is used to make the world's largest Christmas bomb—thanks for that info, Bert. We just arrived at IJsselstein Zuid by tram. Since there’s no bus stop there, we’re heading back to the main stop at IJsselstein center to see if we can catch a bus. We’ve now arrived in the city center, or inside the city, whatever you call it. These trams run on the same track gauge as the NS trains, although their voltage is slightly different—750 volts DC. We’re now at the bus stop in IJsselstein city center, waiting for a bus to Mfort. Never thought I’d say this, but we got off in Mondvoort at the green bus stop. It’s pretty precise because you have to look around carefully. I don't understand why that’s the end stop, but okay. We crossed to the other side and transferred to a bus heading toward Utrecht Central Station. Now, we’re back at Central Station, arriving on time. We have about half an hour, which we intentionally planned—I want to take bus 295 to Rotterdam and grab something to eat. That's why we took this bus now. We’re happy again—Starbucks, the most prominent coffee place in the Netherlands, no service bumps, and the school kids sitting in the back. With this bus, we’re heading to Rotterdam. First, we arrive at Rotterdam Kapelsbrug, and then we take the metro toward Rotterdam Blaak. At Rotterdam Blaak station, we’ll probably switch to the train heading toward Rotterdam Central. Hello! That was quick. We arrived at Rotterdam Central. Patrick and I had a good idea—later we might ask about traveling with the Eurostar. Usually, you’re no longer allowed to travel on the Eurostar with an NS subscription, but if you request it, they might let us on, so we’ll try.By Blivius 92 - .

Light rail Utrecht - Tramway Utrecht (2012)

Light rail Utrecht - Tramway Utrecht (2012)Some Connexxion trams arrive at the Utrecht Centraal stop at Hoog Catherijne, which is also the start and end point of this light rail. The vehicles are made by SIG. Some Connexxion trams on the "sneltram" line in Utrecht. The "sneltram" is a kind of mix between a metro and a tram line, looks like a light rail. Here some trams arrived and departed from the stop near the central station of Utrecht.By TrainsOfSander - .
