Tram Drivers' View: Sunny Winter Day Downhill Gråkallbanen (2020)A downhill trip on Gråkallbanen, a Sunny Winter Day, 26.02.2020. The tram is number 95 of the type GT6C, built by Linke-Hofmann-Busch in Salzgitter, Germany, in 1984. At Munkvoll, we meet the vintage tram 29, with sightseeing passengers from the Coastal Express. Tram 29 was built by Strømmens Værksted near Oslo in 1958. Gråkallbanen is 8.8 km long, running from St. Olavs gate (street) at sea level in the center of Trondheim to Lian in the city forest, 233 meters above sea level. Gråkallbanen is the northernmost tram line in the world, with a narrow gauge of 1.00 meters, and at the same time, 2.60-meter-wide cars. The line is primarily single-track, operated with automatic block signalling. The overhead line supplies 600 Volts DC.By NorTram - .

Gråkallbanen - Most northerly tram system - Lian to Trondheim - Minutt for minutt! (2017)I took a previously unpublished video from Lian to Trondheim on the utterly charming tramway at Trondheim, the Gråkallbanen, in April 2017. The last minute is from another trip, when I had finger problems with my camera!!. This is now the most northerly tram system in the world, with the most northerly tram stop! Boreal runs the tramway. Its small but very friendly staff does a fine job of keeping the system running. As well as supporting commuters from the Trondheim suburbs, its aim is very Norwegian- to run out of the city and get lost in the forest! The terminus is at a very popular hiking and skiing area. This video is a bit rough. I tried to use stabilisation, but it just made it worse. However, travelling in this direction shows the steep gradients more clearly. Sorry about the lack of "d" in the title screen!! I pronounce it correctly (as they do in Norway) with a silent "d", and I got caught out with my spelling!
