Görlitz is now rethinking its approach and wants its transport company back. For 15 years, the tram system has been operated by a French conglomerate. Initially, it was a cost-saving model for the city that has now ended. Almost all of the bus stops and trams are hopelessly outdated. We need to redefine the rules of the game to establish a solid foundation for the future. We have made this decision to rebuild it. This means that from 2019 onward, trams and buses will likely be owned entirely by the city again. Since 1990, tram service in Glitz has been steadily reduced, with only a few exceptions. Five lines have now been reduced to just two. Many of the vehicles are over 30 years old, prone to repairs, and have little accessibility for people with disabilities. The city needs at least six new trams for 15 million euros. So the procurement volume is small. Considering that companies offering street management typically require large quantities, it would be beneficial to collaborate with other similar street companies and form an ordering group. This is why Glitz could join forces with Kottbus, Frankfurt, or Brandenburg. Join forces—that's the idea in this charming city. Together, these cities need far more than 50 new trains at once. Volume discounts are possible. The Glitz tram still has a future, and many passengers welcome it. The tram must stay. What do I believe?
