Niskopodłogowiec - PESA Swing Toruń - TP02 (2014)New trams are finally in Torun, Poland. See the new PESA Swing tram and learn:
- How many trams has the city bought?
- What colors did the residents choose?
- How many passengers will sit inside the tram?
- How quickly does the ramp for wheelchairs lay out?
- And how does the driver's desktop look?
On October 11, 2014, the track on Uniwersytecka Street was closed to traffic to present the new tram for Toruń, the PESA 122NbT Swing. The vehicle shown was the second to arrive in the city this year. In total, 12 Swing-type trams have been ordered: 6 with five body sections and 6 with three. We checked how the new tram looks and what systems it includes. The vehicle features a distinctive design that combines existing solutions used in the manufacturer's trams. The colors, inspired by the sky—featuring blue and sun rays—were chosen in a citywide contest. The entrance has two single doors and four double doors.
Passengers can open the door using the "hot button" function. Entry is made without steps, directly onto the low-floor covering 100% of the passenger area. An automatic pull-out ramp, available at the 2-door, allows wheelchair users to board the tram. Deploying the ramp takes only a few seconds. The tram has a single-space layout, with 40 seats, and a total capacity of 207 passengers. The passage width along the entire length of the vehicle is at least 66 cm. The tram is equipped with features such as air conditioning, monitoring, a counting system, and passenger information systems—both visual and voice. Inside, LCD screens display the vehicle's position on a map based on GPS signals. The car has bifunctional validators for validating both paper and electronic tickets. Validators are installed at the doors, with a ticket machine located near the second door. The driver's cabin has its own air conditioning. The onboard computer provides the driver with a status overview of individual tram components and camera feeds from any monitoring camera in the vehicle.
We look forward to the first trip of the new tram on the route. The first Swing will begin serving passengers in October this year. Meanwhile, thank you for your attention.By Niskopodłogowiec - .
