The new Stadler TINA tram in Basel, Switzerland: First impressions are good (2024)
1:03
The new Stadler TINA tram in Basel, Switzerland: First impressions are good (2024)There is a station here. I'm sitting at the window. The Stadler Tina (TINA stands for "Totally Integrated Low-Floor Drive") is a tram multiple unit designed and manufactured by the Swiss railway manufacturer Stadler Rail. Stadler described the vehicles as "next-generation trams" until 2021. The Tina platform replaces the previous Tango, Tramlink, and Citylink products.By Gab Kae - .

TINA Tram: First vehicle arrives in Oberwil (2024)
4:22
TINA Tram: First vehicle arrives in Oberwil (2024)The first TINA tram was transported on Tuesday evening, December 19, 2023, by low-loader from the Stadler factory in Bussnang, Thurgau, to Oberwil. The low-loaders arrived in Oberwil shortly after midnight. The TINA tram was dismantled into two parts for transport. Unloading and re-railing took place on Wednesday morning, December 20, 2023, in the Hüslimatt tram depot. The two vehicle parts were rolled over a ramp from the low-loader onto the outer track, mechanically assembled, and then pushed into the tram depot by another BLT tram. There, the two vehicle parts were completely reassembled over about 2 days. www.blt.ch/newsBy BLT Baselland Transport AG - .
New TINA tram generation arrives at BLT (2023)
4:36
New TINA tram generation arrives at BLT (2023)BLT is the first company in Switzerland to adopt the new TINA tram series from Stadler Rail. In the latest development, special emphasis was placed on passenger comfort. The first TINA tram is expected to begin service around mid-January 2024. There are two beaming faces excited about Tina, with the first Tina already behind us. I'm with Philip Glock. Philip, tell me the big news about the tram Z. First of all, Tina, yes, we're of course looking forward to Tina, a very modern vehicle. It will offer a completely new driving experience, featuring a massive panoramic sliding door. Additionally, a corridor between the doors provides a convenient parking experience. Thank you, that's excellent. As I mentioned, the inclusion of wood in the vehicle's design is both elegant and necessary for enhanced driving comfort. The seats, with plush cushions, are super comfortable. Now, about the Z—this requires incredible technical finesse. A few words on the process: the huge V and SCH—that's history in itself. The vehicle is transported by SCH V Stadler on a truck in two parts, which had to be pushed in after production. It was a long journey to transport it in pieces, but now, the S part has arrived tonight, at 12:12. The vehicle parts are already from Gaden, and we need to make space, drive on to the second part, and reconnect the two. I saw at BB that many are under pressure on the ground. I checked that the DRAM is on the rails, and everything fits. The size must match, and it has to fit—that's how it is. It's a temporary solution, serving as a means of transportation. We must be cautious. It wasn't pleasant when we were somewhere and had to do it again. We need everything to work really well, without anything falling or breaking, which wouldn't be good. We’ve disassembled and reassembled the whole system; now, we wonder how long it will take before the first maiden voyage on your network with Tina. It still needs to be reassembled, which will take about two days. We also need to recheck everything. All systems will be tested when the vehicle is stationary—no driving is possible during this time. When we perform the Z depot, we won't disturb you; everything will remain operational. It was scheduled for mid-January, and then we'll go online. Tina will be tested with a total of 25 vehicles. Cycle-wise, it will follow a Z-week and D-week rotation until all 25 cars are ready. Initially, there will be more vehicles to support testing, and then GT Sch will increase to 25 cars. As the vehicle manager, how do you view Tina compared to the others? Is it more efficient and economical in procurement? Tina is a synonym for a technological feature—a fully integrated low-velocity drive. The goal is to provide passengers with a truly special and completely new driving experience. It appears to be from another manufacturer, and we’re pleased that it pairs well with the Derri, which offers ample space and a beautiful, large panoramic window. The new driver's cabin will surely be a highlight, as everyone looks forward to the new journey with Tina V of the BLT. Enjoy the trip.By regioTvplus - .

Awesome Basel cross border tram (2018)
8:02
Awesome Basel cross border tram (2018)The Line 3 is on BVB, the Basel Stadt tram system, and it goes to the St Louis SNCF station with three other intermediate stops after crossing the border at Burgfeldenhof. However, the tram in the video is the BLT (Basel Landschaft Tram) line 10. It goes to Ettingen BL, Sonnenrain SO, Bättwil, Flüh, crosses into France at Leymen (note at @4:18), and on to Rodersdorf in the Solothurn canton. Next month, I plan to visit Leymen and hike up to Schloss Landskron if the weather permits. There is also the TV tower at St Chrischona, which requires taking the BVB tram line 6 to Riehen and a bus line 32 to the cloister in Bettingen.By Beno - .

Basel: Ride in the BLT Tango (Be 6/10) on line 10 (2015)

Basel: Ride in the BLT Tango (Be 6/10) on line 10 (2015)Ride in the Stadler Tango (pre-series vehicle no. 151) on line 10 in the direction of Aesch from Baselstrasse to Elektra Birseck. Unfortunately, I left my lens cap behind on this ride - just by the way ;-) For me, these vehicles are extremely interesting - they have very good suspension and ride comfort and the acceleration is so good and smooth - that I was already impressed by videos beforehand. Of course, the design is a matter of taste and the nested construction does not appeal to me as a design enthusiast - but technically this vehicle is impressive and shows how good Stadler is, apart from its Variobahn. And the Tango has another big plus: it is extremely reliable and has been so convincing that it is now being delivered in a second series. Unfortunately, a software update was carried out on the vehicle, the driving noise is no longer as loud as in the first videos of this vehicle. I look forward to positive comments!By trams_trains - .

Birsigtalbahn back in the day in blue/white (1975)
11:32
Birsigtalbahn back in the day in blue/white (1975)Scenes from the Birsigtalbahn (Birsig Valley Railway) filmed in 1975 by the late Ben Wolff from Holland. He kindly shared the film with us for digitization. It features Basel with its trams, the BTB (Birsig Valley Railway), and ends with scenes from Amsterdam. I've added subtitles and a brief description... Among other things, it also covers the Pro Birsigthalbahn association. www.probirsigthalbahn.ch Greetings! Alfonso Durandi, Therwil (alduro@sunrise.ch or +41796445050). Does anyone have any films from this era? A film by Ben Wolff from the Netherlands. It must have been in 1974. We are in Basel. The BVB with its green trams. The Basel tram. What a beautiful summer car of the Basel tram. Central Station Square, Basel SBB. Those were different times. Today, we have to ride in closed, air-conditioned vehicles without being able to open a window. BVB trams are still running with old rolling stock on line 7. View towards Aeschenplatz. To the right is the almost-completed Hilton Hotel, which was demolished after just 41 years in June 2016. The Schlotterbeck building has also not stood there since 1993. Heuwaage Birsigtalbahn with commuter train rolling stock from 1966. Ticket machines were just being introduced. The Heuwaage was a large station for the BTB for a long time. This was the starting or departure point—terminal station of the 17 km long Basel-Rodersdorf line. The railway station building was demolished at the end of the 1980s and moved to Rheinfelden. This was the normal operating mode from 1968 onward. The old intermediate cars, numbers 51-56, were converted and remained in service until the transition to tram operation at the end of September 1984. The motorcars always stayed on the Basel side because there was a control car on the other side, departing toward Basel. As early as 1975, the first advertising panels were mounted on vehicles. The BTB was a true railway—windows could be opened, and passengers could stick their heads out. The BTB merged with three other suburban railways in 1974, which signaled the end of these vehicles, as the line was to connect with different lines. The last run with this rolling stock occurred at the end of September 1984. Many cars were then taken to the AOMC in Valais. In the meantime, they were also decommissioned and donated there. Two motor cars (8 and 9) went to Austria on the Attersee. They are no longer there either. Travel along Ebnetstrasse toward Therwil. The old railway station, which was demolished at the end of 1975. Just before Ettingen from Witterswil (Estrella curve). Oberwil. The Batteriestrasse station. The track crossing in Binningen, and that's how it was. We are the Pro BTB association, and we saved four of these vehicles. They are located in Rodersdorf. www.probirsigthalbahn.ch provides more information. Binningen. Back in Basel at the train station.By Alfonso Durandi - .
