Postcard: Paderborn regional line with railcar 23 near Externsteine (1920-1936)Postcard: Paderborn regional line with railcar 23 near Externsteine (1920-1936)Historic Tramway Externsteine Externsteine/Teutoburg Forest In a 142-hectare nature reserve near Horn-Bad Meinberg, thirteen sandstone rock formations rise 20-28 meters above the water from a ridge. From 1912 to 1936, the historic tramway ran from Panderborn over the passes of the Great and Little Egge hills, through the Externsteine, and on to Horn-Detmold and Pivitshide. Later, the route was rerouted along the new Reichsstraße 1 (today's B1). However, a shuttle service continued on the 1.5 km long Horn-Externsteine line until 1941. The entire line was closed in 1953.By Henrik Boye - - .
