Number 53 was built in 1937 and after only 2 years of running, was sold to a West Sussex farm where she remained until the 1970s. For the next 3 decades she sat in a shed, untouched, until now..."

"On August 4, 1883, Brighton-born inventor Magnus Volk opened a narrow-gauge railway along the seashore between the Aquarium and the Chain Pier. Volk was known for installing Brighton's first electric house, the town's first telephone system, and electric lighting in the Royal Pavilion. The electric railway became so popular that he applied in 1884 to extend it."
