Added Sign: Copenhagen Tivoli Linie 8 (2026)The history of Line 8 1873-1969 Tram type in use from 1873-1898 1873 Blegdamsvej Line¨On April 12, 1873, Aktieselskabet "Kjøbenhavns Forstæders Sporveisselskabet" opened their first horse tram line: the Blegdamsvej Line, which was the start of Line 8 1898 A/S De Kjøbenhavnske Sporveje A merger of the many horse tram and horse omnibus companies was formed. Tram type in use from 1901-1910 1901 Enghave Line The first electric tram line opened. The route ran from Enghave Plads, along Enghavevej, Kingosgade, Alhambravej, H.C. Ørstedsvej, Griffenfeldsgade and with a terminus at Kapelvej. The line had 2 green line lanterns installed, which were to be used as a marker for Line 8. Tram type in use from 1901-1910 8 In addition to providing clarity for customers, the line numbers also had an impact on the right-of-way between the tram lines. A line with a higher number always had to give way to a line with a lower number. 1902 Line 8 The "Enghavelinien" got a new terminus and now ran just past Tivoli's main entrance on its route between Kapelvej and Rådhuspladse. In the same year, line numbers were introduced, and the "Enghavelinien" got number 8 out of a total of 12 numbers.

The line was to be converted to bus operation, or "bussified" as the tramways liked to call it. From May 1, 1965, Line 8 was a bus line. Tivoli's Line 8 under construction 1969 Line 8 was reborn in Tivoli May 1, 1969 at At 09:00 the first small Line 8 tram drove through Tivoli's main entrance. It was Tivoli's master carpenter Knud Lebech who was responsible for building a motor and a sidecar. Tivoli's Line 8 on its debut day in 1969 The old original trams, including Line 8, can be found today at the Skjoldenæsholm Tram Museum, where you can see and ride in them.
