🚃 Tramway Nordhausen (2017) The Nordhausen tramway is operated by Stadtwerken Nordhausen, running on three lines within the city and along the Harzquerbahn to the surrounding countryside of Ilfeld. The track gauge is 1000 mm. After Germany's reunification in 1990, the future of the tram was debated, but it was ultimately decided to keep it. In the following years, the rail network underwent a complete renovation, and new (initially old) vehicles were acquired. On October 3, 1993, a new extension was added, connecting from Theater Square 1.8 kilometers to the eastern part of the city. In 2004, the planned extension of the Harzquerbahn was completed.
