Description

Well, in Lyon, we have driverless metros (Line D), metros with drivers (Lines A, B, C), and a rack-and-pinion metro (Line C) built on the route of an old funicular railway (opened in 1891, closed in 1974 to make way for the metro) that climbs a hill! We also have six tram lines, the first of which opened in 2001, and the last was completed at the end of 2019. Additionally, there are two funiculars, opened in 1878 and 1900, which have been modernized since then. So, brace yourselves, folks!

2030 Target
- Line 1 extension toward L'Ariane, then La Trinité (about 5 km)
- Line 3 extension toward Lingostière shopping center (2.5 km)
- Line 4 project approved, connecting Nice Airport and Cagnes-sur-Mer train station [6.2 km]
- Tram-train studies between Ariane and Cantaron [7 km]
- The TGV/TER train station at Nice Airport is under construction.

With all this, Nice is catching up (along with Strasbourg and its extensive tram network) and will still have an efficient transportation network if everything proceeds as planned.
