Schöneiche - Rüdersdorf tram ride (2018)Today another archive recording from 2018. In September 2018 we went to Schöneiche - Rüdersdorf near Berlin to travel on this interurban railway. At the time of the recording, the SRS was using three Düwag GT6s from Bochum in addition to the three KTNF6s, two of which were used during peak hours. Since 2019, however, the Düwags have been replaced by three Artic Trams from Helsinki. Recently, extensive dismantling has been undertaken to repair the damaged basic structure. Even when the last interior paneling could be persuaded to be removed, there was plenty of new work to be done. For the doors to be repaired, they also had to be persuaded to leave the car. That was the usual picture. Unfortunately, the only things that help are vacuuming and sanding. On the outside, there was a double layer of sheet metal, which was covered with a decorative strip. These areas are always badly affected by rust. We try to save what we can, and so we decided to cut off the upper side, preserve everything, and then reattach the piece. If it is not primed or painted, then it will be cut out, sanded, and welded. Well, that's something to be proud of. Just a short time later, the attachments could be adjusted again.
