New light rail bridge in place over the Hillerød-freeway (2024)Our contractor CG Jensen lifted a footbridge into place on the side of the ring road bridge over the Hillerød motorway on the night of 28 March. The footbridge is the first of two footbridges to guide pedestrians and cyclists over the bridge. A trip down the ramp to Glostrup Station (2022)On its trip between Ishøj and Lundtofte, the light rail will stop at a total of six S-train stations, including Glostrup Station, which has required an extraordinary amount of construction work. From the bridge on Søndre Ringvej, the light rail train will be taken all the way down to the station via a long ramp, so that you can easily and quickly change between light rail, S-train and buses. As I said, it is no easy task to build a ramp of that caliber, but now the work is finally finished, and Per Aarsleff's drone operator, Per Hansen, has documented it in the most beautiful way. In the video you can e.g. see how Per Aarsleff has made the foundations for the future traffic flow masts, built the light rail alignment on the Ringvejsbroen and on the ramp, where shards have also been laid for the light rail's future tracks. Visit to Glostrup Ejby Station (2021)Glostrup Ejby Station is the first station of a total of 29 light rail stations to be completed. The station is an experimental model for how the rest of the stations should be designed. It is an advantage to have a prototype in place as soon as possible, so that we know how the stations will play together with the rest of the area. This is how we lay concrete sleepers (2022)Rails, sleepers, shards! There are many components to keep track of when the rails for Hovedstadens Light Rail need to be in place. Laying down traces is a multi-part process. First, rails are laid, then sleepers are pushed in underneath, and finally ballast (granite shards) is filled into the track, which is adjusted with a special machine that packs the shards around the sleepers so that the track lies solidly. In the video below, you can see what it looks like when our contractor, Aarsleff Rail As, pushes sleepers under the track. It looks cool! The light rail will have two tracks, but one track will be completed in the part of the stretch that is being worked on, so that it can later be used as a working track for heavy machinery that runs on rails, while the other track is being laid.By Hovedstadens Letbane - October 18, 2022.

Capital City Light Rail in Operation Simulation (3/3) - Vallensbæk to Ishøj (2025)It's not long now until the Capital City Light Rail opens its first stage, between Rødovre Nord and Ishøj St. In the run-up to the approval of the Light Rail, operational simulations will be run, which means that full operation will be simulated. I will try to document these runs, all the way from Rødovre to Ishøj. In the third and final section, the Light Rail and the S-Bahn meet twice - in Vallensbæk and the Light Rail's southern terminus: Ishøj. Along the way, the Light Rail winds through less built-up areas, and pulls away from Ring 3 when it reaches Ishøj. Light rail train at the Control and Maintenance Center (2023)After a drive of almost 800 kilometers and a ferry trip from Germany, the first light rail train arrived in style on Thursday, August 24.
