News from the Magdeburg Tram (2013)A lot is happening at MVB these days. We've been out and about with our cameras at the busiest spots, both in traffic and non-traffic areas, and we have the relevant information. A lot is happening at the LVB these days. Even several months after the devastating June floods in Magdeburg, smooth tram operations are out of the question. On the other hand, several projects have been initiated in recent weeks to put the company on a future-proof footing. The main visible damage from the flood has been repaired, but the routes to Lake Barleber See and Herrenkrug are still not in operation. The Breitscheid Straße exhibition grounds section was used until August 20th to park 46 customs vehicles, as well as by the NDT and the football emergency team. The rest of the route towards the Kern Group is slowly growing. From the beginning of August, work commenced on removing the most severe damage to the August Bebel Dam between Korbwärten and Tonart, thereby providing the depot with at least the necessary capacity. However, it is not yet foreseeable to use the mentioned section for passenger traffic temporarily. Extensive investigations are still needed. Only shunting operations at low speed are possible. The line, therefore, only runs between Siegburg and Neue Neustadt. From there, buses run as a rail replacement service to Zumba. Better see. On August 19, provisional workshop operations began in the north. Three workshops are quiet, and about two-thirds of the parking area is available for use for the time being. The rear bypass remains closed. Like the line parked on the Europaring, vehicles have been gradually driven north since August 19, allowing for the regular operation of line 5 to commence from September 2nd. On August 15, the newly constructed stops at Domplatz were put into operation. Also on September 16, the dismantling of the ID card in Regen Weg began. This is the block bypass between the loop and the Leipziger Chaussee buildings. Therefore, because of the track. Neuber and administrative work in Otto von Guericke Street between Dance and Trance.
