New low-floor articulated trams for Kassel Transport Company (KVG). The project image provides an impression of the 12 low-floor trams ordered by KVG. They will be delivered in 1999 and were manufactured by DWA Deutsche Waggonbau Aktiengesellschaft, Bautzen plant (mechanical components). The design and supply of the electrical components were handled by KIEPE ELEKTRIK GmbH & Co. KG, based in Düsseldorf.

The low-floor trams, type 8NGTW, are suitable for use on the KVG tram network and on the future Lossetalbahn, a private railway line. They will thus provide a direct connection and supplement the existing fleet on Kassel's tram lines. The concept guarantees a high level of comfort and reliable, low-maintenance operation. The 12 new low-floor trams will enter scheduled service in June 1999. With the purchase, KVG also secured an option for an additional 10 vehicles.
