Light rail opening in Odense (2022)A few thoughts, feelings, and comments about the Odense Light Rail, which has just opened to the public. What began 15 years ago as an idea with a couple of Christian Democratic parliamentary candidates has now become a reality. Welcome to the opening of the Odense Light Rail on May 28, 2022 here at Odense Banegård so that the Light Rail does not have to run very far after the departure when there is a fking crossing right after the station Then the trip continues into the city in the direction of Jalles and here a new light rail train arrives at Odense Banegårds Station The entire Light Rail is double-tracked so that you have the opportunity to pass each other all the way There is a switch along the way so that it is also possible in the event of operational disruptions and the like to change tracks Here we are on the final Approach as you can call it to the terminus in tup right next to tup Centeret the station was very popular on this premiere day In general, the trains are a little quieter than the typical city buses and you can however experience a slight undulation so to speak when you drive over a switch as you can typically experience at, for example, than the stations like here The train is equipped with pictograms above the entrances that show where you are supposed to drive in with, for example, a stroller, wheelchair or bicycles they are made like this so that the edges of the rails and the island are stacked in the carriages, they have no immediate difference in level so it is easy to get in and out and here a light rail train arrives at the other end of the light rail, namely at Jals station, by the way. Then they weren't quite so busy giving information at the stations. It took quite a while before information about traffic disruptions and similar matters was received. So I'm on my way out to Jalte station, one of the light rail's main stations, and there are already quite a few people waiting for a little bit of track to come. It's free to ride today and until Constitution Day, so that people can try the beast. Now we need to see what the new light rail station is like. The platform is built adjacent to the platform at Halles station, making it easy to walk from the Svendborg Line or to the Svendborg Line. Here, next to the light rail station, I can see a housing association holding an open house for Seden. Some new housing is being built here, where there is also a coffee shop, crayfish, and balloons for the children. So we spent a little bit for a party day out here that was already quite a few people and were waiting in a hurry but fortunately they didn't just have to stand and wait for the train But could actually also look at the trains on the Svendborg Line next door while the Light Rail was of course in place with small marzipan bread for the travelers TV2 was also present and covered the event inside the train there was live music in some of the trains I think the trains were well visited This day and inside the seats are also indicated with pictograms Which seats are for example fern for walking difficulties pregnant women for Prams wheelchairs bicycles so it is easy for the travelers to find their way around These are the pictograms you see up here on the windows But how was the delay so Well as I said before So they had such a good comfortable ride there is of course just a little Slinger swing when you drive through a switch and island otherwise they actually drive quite nicely and more relaxed than the city bus line otherwise the seats Yes so it is very thinly padded so it is not one you have to sit in for very long another thing where you I can see that this is not a train that is intended for long journeys, despite the fact that the journey from Odense railway station to, for example, the hospital or the university may actually be a little longer. Oh, it's that there were actually no sockets for charging mobile phones and other smart devices, as you see more and more in public transport. I think it might be a good idea to address at least some of the issues with the seats, but they have chosen not to do so in the Odense light rail train.
