Of course, it depends on what time you need to arrive. However, there will be a one-time check, so instead of riding the Light Rail, you'll have to go through ticket control that day. We add a little twist: every time we arrive at Glostrup, you have to go down to Glostrup Station and change trains, then ride to the opposite end, depending on whether you came from Ishøj or Lund. Switches in place at the ramp to Glostrup Station (2023) Do you remember our "Diamond" at the Control and Maintenance Centre?
Our contractors, Siemens and Aarsleff Rail, are currently building a scaled-down version of the large ramp that will lead to the future light rail station at Glostrup.
As you can see in the video, the turnouts are delivered "whole" - and not in parts that must subsequently be welded together. This is because switch tracks must be made to millimeter accuracy, as they contain several moving parts that help the train turn up and down the ramp. You can compare the switching tracks to a car engine. When you buy a car, the engine does not come in parts. It is also completely assembled at the factory.
The tracks laid on the straight sections of the route also require precision, of course, but they are easier to lay by eye because they do not consist of moving components. By Hovedstadens Letbane -

This is where the ongoing maintenance, cleaning and parking of the light rail trains take place when they are not in operation. Copenhagen Lightrail - Progress (2025) The first part of the Lightrail opens next month, so i figured it was time for an update, as my last video was nearly 3 years ago.
It's surprising how quickly we forget how much work the whole project required, with roads being dug up, bridges being widened, and all the tracks being laid. Now it is almost complete, and the trams are running test drives. See if you can spot drivers waving to me!
In this video i will show you the progress at Glostrup Station, Glostrup Hospital, Glostrup North, Glostrup Ejby and Rødovre North.
The route from Ishøj to Rødovre North opens for passengers on Sunday 26 October 2025. You can be sure i'll be on one of the first trains!
