Description

Numerous construction projects are underway in the state capital, which also impact the “üstra” trams. A subway was planned but was quickly abandoned due to financial issues. Instead, a light rail system with tunnel sections in the city center was developed, which has been operating since 1975. It took ten years to complete the first tunnel section, Light Rail Line A, with four subway stations. At that time, alongside the new light rail cars, there were steel cars, superstructure cars, conversion cars, and GT6 vehicles—trams of many types that ran daily. We look back on a time of vehicle diversity, not only in trams but also in cars.

On a journey through time to Hanover in the 1970s, you could still ride a variety of trams, from steel trams and construction trailers to the latest light rail vehicles. In this 50-minute documentary, you'll learn about the history of Hanover’s tram system and the fascinating story of the underground construction that turned the entire city center into a massive construction zone. This documentary allows us to relive the changes brought about by the light rail’s development. Whether it was fashion, cars, or trams, everything evolved over the years. Some footage in this film dates back to the 1960s. From the 1960s onward, the film has been available at bookstores or directly from tram TV.
