Ansaldobreda Sirio low-floor trams in Florence - Florence Tram (2024) Florence… Rich history, majestic churches, impressive bridges, great food, but the same trams as us… almost. These fantastic red Sirios give a familiar feel to those of Athens, with some relevant differences, such as the Hitachi engines, their red color, and aesthetic differences in the interior and cabin. Florence Trams (2016) Florence’s modern tramway opened in 2005. Line T1 starts in the centre at Santa Maria Novella station and serves residential areas towards Scandicci via a new bridge over the Arno. Lines T2 (for the Airport), T3 and an extension to T1 are under construction, and line T4 is being planned at the time of writing. Line T1 has a pleasant route though Cascine Park, but the system is intended to serve the needs of Florentine residents rather than the tourists.
The trams are 5-section bi directional Ansaldo Breda Sirio.
