It's surprising how quickly we forget how much work the whole project required, with roads being dug up, bridges being widened, and all the tracks being laid. Now it is almost complete, and the trams are running test drives. See if you can spot drivers waving to me!
In this video i will show you the progress at Glostrup Station, Glostrup Hospital, Glostrup North, Glostrup Ejby and Rødovre North.
The route from Ishøj to Rødovre North opens for passengers on Sunday 26 October 2025. You can be sure i'll be on one of the first trains!

Ishøj St. from above (2023) Our contractor M.J. Eriksson A/S, which builds the light rail in Ishøj Municipality, is in full swing building the future light rail station at Ishøj Station.
In the video, you can see how the island platform looks at the moment, and how the first concrete elements for the rails have already been laid from the station out onto Ishøj Stationsvej. By Hovedstadens Letbane -

We built platforms at Glostrup Station (2020) In week 49, our contractor, Aarsleff Rail, began laying the concrete elements for the upcoming light rail station at Glostrup Station. Glostrup Station will be the largest station on the light rail route, with over 6,000 passengers on a weekday. Filip Dichmann, Interface and Site Manager at the Capital's Light Rail, tells more about the work in the film. By Hovedstadens Letbane -

This is how we build the capital's light rail (2018) Construction of the capital's new light rail has begun slowly. But how do you build a light rail? You can learn more about that in this film. The capital's Light Rail is set to open in 2025, featuring 29 new stations between Ishøj and Lyngby. By Hovedstadens Letbane -

Information about the light rail work in Lyngby Centre (2021) In Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, light rail work is gaining momentum, which can be seen and heard in the streetscape. To help you follow the process, we have asked our Senior Project Manager, Niels Brock, to provide more information about our contractor, Per Aarsleff's, work in the Lyngby center and the future traffic in the area. The capital's light rail in traffic (2024) Driving along the capital's light rail isn't very complicated. Follow the light regulations, and we will all pass through traffic safely. At the same time, efforts have been made to reduce the interruption of crossing traffic caused by the light rail train.
The capital's light rail has 29 stations between Ishøj and Lundtofte, with trains arriving every five minutes during the day, every 10 minutes in the evenings, and on Sundays. There are 63 traffic lights along the route, so light rail trains should ideally encounter green lights as often as possible to stay on schedule. A very advanced and intelligent signaling system at the traffic lights ensures this. The system is aware of the trains' locations on the route and the time it takes for them to pass through an intersection. It also monitors the rest of the traffic using radars and video. The system uses this information to adjust the green lights, ensuring that as much traffic as possible clears before the light rail train arrives at an intersection, and thus often receives a green light. This allows light rail trains to frequently receive the green light before reaching the intersection, letting them proceed without slowing down.
However, in some cases, light rail trains will stop at a red signal. When this happens, crossing traffic continues to have a green light before the train can get a new green and proceed. How this works in practice depends on whether the train is driving on the side of the road or in the middle, or if it is changing sides at an intersection. When the train is on the side of the road, there will be a green light for cars and bicycles going straight ahead, even if other vehicles are turning across the train’s path and are on red. When the train is in the middle of the road, both straight-going traffic and vehicles turning right from the same direction will have a green light. If the train changes sides at an intersection, only the train moves while other traffic waits. There will always be traffic signals indicating whether it is your turn or the light rail’s turn to go. This system ensures the safety of all road users as they pass through intersections on the light rail route. When the light rail reaches an intersection, its green light period ends, and crossing traffic resumes. This way, everyone can cross quickly and safely. See you in the Capital City Light Rail. Herlev Light Rail (2020) The light rail is on its way :-p
A short time ago, in a town unimaginably close by, the city's ruler, Mayor Thomas, decided to do something new. He wanted a light rail. No, not a lightsaber - a light rail. The idea was to bring customers and prosperity to town, along with new taxpayers. And so this vision took off. By Lars Holgersen -

What are we building at Glostrup Station? (2020) At Glostrup Station, new bridges will be built over the railway tracks. To make this possible, extensive preparatory work will be required before the bridges can be installed in 2021.
Another central part of the work involves compensating for the height difference from the Ring Road up to the station using a pre-loading system (actually a large sand cushion), which will last about a year, so that the light rail can run up and down without problems. By Hovedstadens Letbane -
