Operational

Built in 1925 for Gateshead and District Tramways, these trams ran through Gateshead and across the Tyne to Newcastle and Gosforth. Gateshead Tramways closed in 1951, and British Rail bought 10 (along with Gateshead 5, now at Crich Tramway Village) to work on its Grimsby and Immingham tramway. It ran as G&I 26 (with sister 5 running as G&I 20) until that tramway closed in 1961. Three G&I trams were preserved: 26, which was restored to its former Gateshead livery as 5; 20, restored to Gateshead 5 (now at Crich Tramway Village); and 14, which retains its identity and is currently non-operational at Crich Tramway Village.

10 was restored in 1968 and returned to passenger service, inaugurating passenger service at Beamish Museum in 1973.

One more video left in this series, but it's a trip around the entire tramway circuit on the open-top Newcastle 114, with a little extra bit as well...
