Digital inauguration - Tramway Lund (2020)Now it is finally time to inaugurate the long-awaited trams in Lund. Join us on a journey along the track with Johan Wester and guests. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the grand opening of the tramway in Lund. Due to the pandemic, instead of the planned ceremony at Clemenstorget, we are now holding a digital opening. We are at the depot at the end of Brunnshög, where all the trams are stationed—Inferno, Åsa-Hanna, Brandklipparen, Sfinxen... They are all waiting here to run on Lund's streets. Before we begin, I have two guests who will share their thoughts, ideas, anecdotes, and facts: Pernilla von Strokirch and Håkan Henmyr. Welcome! Thank you both for being here. To those of you who have come as much as possible, thank you. Pernilla, representin Lund Municipality, and Håkan from Skånetrafiken. -How are you feeling today? -It's exciting to get the traffic moving. -It must be a remarkable experience. -We've been working on this for a long time. Håkan, you're used to launching new routes at Skånetrafiken, but the tram is a new venture. Yes, it’s special—almost historic for Sweden. It's fantastic. But first, we’ll have a proper inauguration, without pomp and orchestras, but something still quite special. I thought we'd take a trip along the route, pick up people, and meet folks at the stops. Eventually, we’ll probably have a ribbon-cutting inside at Clemenstorget. -What do you think? -That sounds wonderful. Let’s go! Lund - ESS. Welcome, gentlemen. As a passenger... you’ve been waiting here for a while, but now we are at ESS... -Yes. -The final stop in this... The weather’s changing a lot during this recording. Alf, as the region's top official, why is public transport so crucial? Mainly because in Skåne, we have a multi-centered system, which broadens the labor market. "Multi-centered system"—for those unfamiliar... -There are many places—33 municipalities and numerous towns. -Public transit and trains act like our subway, letting the labor market operate smoothly, so people can live in one place, work elsewhere, and enjoy leisure in a third. Christian, tell me... we talked about attractiveness... I have a feeling about what will happen here, but now it’s fields and woods—and a lovely old mill. Can you tell me what’s going on? We aim to create a space where people can meet. Our main focus is to give visitors, especially those doing research at the facilities, a different experience. -So, it’s a complement. -And their friends and relatives... Internal medicine and diabetes are my specialties. -Diabetes is one of Lund's key areas. -Indeed. One of many, I’d say. You’re connected to... This is a large workplace. Is it true it’s the biggest in Skåne? It might be, yes. This is an important part of the tramway—many people will get on and off. Patients, healthcare workers... Lund Light Rail: Lund Central - European Spallation Source (2018-2021)Lund's tramway was inaugurated on December 12, 2020. Regular traffic started on 13/12/2020. Construction of the track began on February 15, 2017. A contract was signed with Skanska in May 2016. The municipality of Lund owns the track, and Region Skåne owns the carriages and depot. The entire track has double tracks on its own space, but with a level crossing, and is 5.5 kilometers long. Most of the track is constructed as a grass track. Right-hand traffic is applied. The track lacks a signaling system, but public transport signals are available at street intersections. Rolling stock is powered by 750 volts DC from a catenary 5.5 meters above RÖK. There is no overhead line. Traffic is operated with low-floor carriages, which were delivered by CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles) in Zaragoza, Spain. A one-hour journey can be paid for by swiping a payment card against the terminal in the carriages.By Spår - 2018 - 2021.
