Tram in Lund (2024)In this video, I ride the tram in Lund and share some information about it, as well as my thoughts on the experience. Hello and welcome to Lund. Today, we’re going to take the tram that goes here to the University Hospital, also known as ESS. Let’s get started. The tram begins to move, initially rolling slowly over cobblestone streets. When it turns to the right, the track itself takes about 15 minutes to reach ESS, which is approximately 5 kilometers away. The trams are CAF Urbos 100 models, which can also be found in Oslo as SL1. We pass Tsärgata, and the Banvallen transitions from cobblestone to grass, a change that continues for the rest of the route. The first stop is the University Hospital. The trams resemble coaches—they attempt to resemble traditional trams. A boring part of this trip was the rain, which cleared up just as the rain, wind, and wet conditions made filming difficult. I usually film every third or fourth video, especially during a tram tour, and I don’t want to get wet. When we pass the E22 highway, I try to film, but my camera acts up. I only managed to get a little of the E22, which is the route I took from Gothenburg to Malmö on the local bus. I also paid tribute to Lund's tramway from that point. The rest of the journey is quick and quite pleasant. I think the trams are a bit too quiet and modern for my taste, but they do their job. It’s actually quite lovely to glide through Lund's different districts, passing near Brunö Square. When the tram approaches more populated areas, the buildings start to end, giving way to forests and plains. Here, it feels more like Uppsala than Lund, but since both cities are roughly the same age with similar histories, it's not surprising that they share many similarities. However, Uppsala doesn't have a tramway—maybe they’re considering it, I don't know. I’ve also noticed that UL and Skånetrafiken use the same Swedish system for their buses, marked green—yay for consistency. As the tram approaches the sixth stop at ESS, it's time to prepare to get off and reflect on the trip. Yes, we took the tram to ESS. The ride took about 15 minutes and cost the same as a city ticket in Skånetrafiken. I don't remember the exact price—I'll check later. What do you think? Do you agree with Lund’s decision to build this tram? Would you like to see more tram routes expanded in Lund? Feel free to comment; I’d love to hear your thoughts on this type of construction project. In the distance, we see the Vagnhallen. If you'd like to see more, subscribe—occasional reports about smaller trams will be available. Please enjoy the video and consider supporting me on Patreon. We’ll see you next time. Bye-bye.By David Broman - November 7, 2024.

Premiere - New Tram Lund (2020)From inside the train, it looks very crowded at times. We want to emphasize that we tried to maintain our distance from fellow passengers, and some of the crowding is due to the camera. The camera makes certain parts of the video appear more crowded than they actually were.

Lund's Tramway: European Spallation Source - Lund Central (2018-2021)Lund's tramway was inaugurated on December 12, 2020. Regular traffic started on 2020-12-13. The construction of the track began on February 15, 2017. The contract was signed with Skanska in May 2016. The municipality of Lund owns the track, and Region Skåne owns the wagons and depot. The entire course features a double track in its own space, albeit with level crossings, and spans 5.5 kilometers in length. Most of the course is made as a grass track. Right-hand traffic is enforced. The track lacks a signal system, but public transport signals are present at street intersections. Rolling stock is powered with 750-volt direct current from a contact line 5.5 meters above RÖK. The carrying strap is missing. The traffic is conducted with low-floor wagons, which were supplied by CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles) in Zaragoza, Spain. A one-hour journey can be paid for by zipping a payment card at the terminal in the carriages.By Spår - 2018 - 2021.

Lund: The tram as part of urban development in Northern Europe - Episode 5 (2022)0:00 Intro 0:43 Trams in Lund 3:51 Outro The modern tram system in the swedish city of Lund was opened in December 2020. The new line 1 begins at the railway station, passes the university hospital and runs towards the north-east to the MAX IV and ESS research facilities. In the next few years, the new Brunnshög district will be developed along the route, providing apartments and jobs for up to 40.000 people. In the city center, the construction of the tram was used as an opportunity to redesign the surrounding streets. For the first line, seven cars of the CAF Urbos 3 type were delivered. More lines are planned.By TramChris - November 13, 2022.
